ABSTRACT
Dementia is the most common cause of dementia worldwide, and its incidence is only rising as the world's population ages. Neurofibrillary tangles of hyperphosphorylated tau and the buildup of amyloid plaques are the two hallmark disorders of this neurodegenerative disease process. For a diagnosis to be made, the clinical presentation needs to fulfil a number of requirements. Fluid and imaging indicators are also taken into account. Treatment is mostly focused on symptomatic measures, despite trials to reduce the generation and overall load of disease inside the brain being conducted. A genetic risk factor linked to this illness has been identified as an APP, PSEN1, and PSEN2 gene mutation. Additionally, nutrition and diet have a significant impact on both prevention and development. Here, we summarize recent advancements in our understanding of dementia care and give updates on ongoing research into Alzheimer's. The majority of treatments now under development aim to modify the disease by specifically targeting tau neurofibrillary tangles or amyloid plaques. The identification and prophylactic treatment of patients with preclinical AD and those withrisk factors for cognitive decline are receiving more attention.
