ABSTRACT
Iron, a widely accepted therapeutic metal, has found application in both Eastern and Western medicinal practices for centuries. Its inclusion in drugs serves as an essential hematinic in modern medicine (However, these drugs are known to elicit certain adverse reactions, particularly in the gastrointestinal system, manifesting as nausea, vomiting, epigastric discomfort, eructation, heartburn, bloating, rumbling sounds in the abdomen, colic pain, flatulence, constipation, dark stools, and diarrhea).[1] Presently, the hematinic market in India is valued at approximately Rs. 900 crore[2] and is displaying an annual growth rate of 15%. Consequently, there is a pressing necessity to explore alternative options from other medical systems, such as Ayurveda. Lauha Kalpas, inherent to Ayurveda, presents a promising alternative. Nevertheless, a comprehensive scientific review of Lauha Kalpas is yet to be conducted. This study is thus undertaken to fill this gap. Sarvajwarahara Lauha is one such formulation in which itcontains Lauha as a major ingredient in it.
Keywords: Sarwajwarahara Lauha, Lauha Bhasma, Jwarara.
