FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF JATAMANSI (NARDOSTACHYS JATAMANSI DC) EMULSION

ABSTRACT

Nardostachys Jatamansi DC is also known as Indian Valerian. It is a medicinal plant of valerianaceae family. It is safe and effective medicinal plant, Jatamansi rhizome has been recommended for insomnia and mental conditions in the Indian system of medicine. N Jatamansi is a popular aromatic herbal plant. This plant is also on the threshold of extension due to the overexploitation of the rhizomes part of the herb. Tetracontane, Tetratriacontane are the main components present in the plant. Other than these chemical constituents like Jatamansone, Nardostachone, etc are also present that possesses various activities like antiarrhythmic, antiparkinson, anticonvulsant activity, etc. Therefore, in this research study, we further explored the therapeutic activity and uses of Nardostachys Jatamansi DC.
