ABSTRACT
WHO rates the hypertension as one of the most important causes of premature death in worldwide. According to the WHO hypertension is a highly prevalent cardiovascular disease. In India, hypertension is the most prevalent chronic disease. The prevalence of hypertension ranges from 20% to 40% in urban adults and 12-17% among rural adults. Telmisartan is an anti-hypertensive drug under the class of angiotensin-II receptor bloker. the aim is to formulate and design develop of sustained released telmisartan an tablet using hydrophilic polymer In this study. Telmisartan is choosen as a model drug to prepare solid dispersion because of its poor and formulated into an solubility profile and formulated into an sustained released tablet by using solid dispersion method solid dispersion method are of two type one is solvent evaporation method and other is fusion method. Materials and method material in that the hydrophilic hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) hydroxyl ethyl cellulose (HEC) and microcrystalline cellulose(Avicel 103) solid dispersion is prepare with polymer with different ratio and formulate into tablet formulation were characterized for drug content studies, drug release studies and drug interaction study using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)spectrum In the case of oral sustained released dosage form, an effect is for several hours depending upon residence time of formulation in the GIT.
Keywords: HPMC, Telmisartan, Antihypertensive drug.
