PHARMACEUTICAL AND ANALYTICAL STUDY OF DADRUGHNA LEPA CHURNA

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Pharmaceutical and analytical standardization is the need of hour to present Ayurveda medications in a scientific, systematic and standardized manner for its overall acceptance. Dadrughna lepa is one among the classical formulations falls under lepa kalpana which is specifically indicated in one of the major prevailing skin ailments that is Dadru Kushta correlated to Tenia infection. In this study an attempt is made to understand the Pharmaceutical and Analytical traits of Dadrughna lepa churna. Materials and Methods: Three batches of Dadrughna lepa churna were prepared following the classics and were further analyzed using standard protocol. Observations and Results: All three batches of Dadrughna lepa churna was amorphous in nature, devoid of majorweight variation and yellow in colour. Discussion: Preparation of Dadrughna lepa churna is pharmaceutically standardized and tested for its analytical traits. There was minimal loss in respective batches of Dadrughna lepa churna during powdering and mixing. Analytical parameters tested shows values within standards. Conclusion: Dadrughna lepa churna is a poly-herbal formulation and the parameters set for Dadrughna Lepa Churna are within the standards, thus providing a pharmaceuticaly standard formulation. Thus pharmaceutical and analytical understanding of the formulations is established.
