ABSTRACT
Dengue is a tropical disease caused by the Dengue virus (DENV), a positive-sense, single stranded RNA virus of the family Flaviviridae, which is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. Many symptoms of dengue fever include gingivitis, sharp pain in the eyes, and swollen palms and soles, headache, body aches, nausea, and rash are the most typical symptoms. Laboratory methods including full blood count, cell culture, nucleic acid identification (PCR), and serology, can be used to confirm the diagnosis. Preventing dengue fever involves controlling the mosquito vector and protecting oneself from mosquito bites. Vaccination against dengue is also available. Use medicinal plants in different combinations targeting multiple stages of virus infection for more effective multipronged therapy against dengue infection.
