Abstract

THE POTENT EXPECTORANT ACTIVITY OF INDIGENOUS DRUG ON KAPHAJA KASA: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Human being is continuously attached with external environment. Environmental pollution, running for urbanization and life style disorder are the leading causes of all the diseses nowadays. Less resistance or decreased immunity and non-adaptability against environmental influences leads to body protecting phenomenon that produces Cough. Kasa is a disease explained in Ayurveda which involves most of the presentations of respiratory tract disease. In the pathogenesis of disease Kasa, vitiated Kapha obstructs the free flow of Prana Vata in Kantha and Uras. Recurrent cough is the common manifestation of recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTI) which is more akin to the disease Kasa delineated in Ayurvedic classics. In this particular case study a 36 year old married female patient came to the OPD of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Puri with complains of Kasa, Kapha nisthibana, Aruchi, Pinasa since 7 days and was treated with indigenous Ayurvedic intervention. Significant improvement was noticed after the treatment and restricted disease progression wasobserved.
