APPLICATION OF ANYASTHANA UKTHA CHIKITSA IN SHALAKYA TANTRA W. S. R. TO EFFICACY OF BHAGANDAROKTHA GUGGULUPANCHAPALA CHURNA IN KARNASRAVA- A SINGLE CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Karnasrava is one among the 28 karna rogas explained by Acharya Susruta in Karnaroga Vijnaneeya adhyaya of uttaratantra of Susruta Samhita. Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) is an inflammatory condition affecting the mucus membrane of middle ear cleft charecterized by purulent ear discharge along with swelling, pain and perforation of tympanic membrane. Materials and Methods: A patient presenting with symptoms of karnasrava was selected from the ENT OPD of ITRA Jamnagar. Main doshas involved in the pathophysiology of karnasrava are Vata pradana tridosha rakta. So drugs to pacify these are selected and administered to the patient for a time period of 3 months continuously. Discussion: Guggulupanchapala churna was the medicine chosen here for the management of karnasrava. It was given both internally as well as forkarna doopana. It was very effective in providing subjective relief to the patient. Result: Significant reduction in the presenting symptoms of the patient was seen after 3 months of treatment.
