ABSTRACT
Bacterial Vaginosis is the most common type of vaginal infection. This common ailment may present with symptoms like, white or grey milky discharge, with unpleasant fishy odor and vaginal pH greater than 4.5 to worst manifestations like, Premature rupture of membrane, Preterm labour or delivery, Spontaneous abortions, Post caesarean wound infections, postabortal endometritis and thus gain importance in the Obstetrical and Gynecologic practice. It can be viewed as Shweta pradara from an ayurvedic perspective. The word Sweta Pradra consists of two words, the word sweta means white colour and pradra means tearing off or redding. In Ayurveda a number of systemic and local medications are prescribed for Sweta pradara by the Aacharyas. Sweta Pradara is primarily treated with Ayurvedic principles based on its etiopathogenesis. Because Kaphadosha is the main causative component for any discharge, it appears to be a Kaphaja disorder in the region of Apana Vayu. This is a case study of a woman who was suffering from thin white discharge per vaginal with foul smell and pain in low back and lower extermities since one year. She was treated with Nagakesara Churna (5 g BD) after 30 minutes of consumption of food with Takra and Panchavalkala Taila YoniPichu (10 ml in one sitting per day per vaginal) after cessation of menses for 15 days. After one month of administration Nagakesara Churna and Panchavalkala Taila YoniPichu she got excellent relief in symptoms.
