KUTKI (PICRORHIZA KURROA): A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Kutki is one of the oldest medicinal plants and has been used for
thousands of years for the treatment of digestive and liver problems. It
is cultivated between 3000 to 4500 meters altitudes. The leaf, bark and
underground parts of the plant, mainly rhizomes are used for their
medicinal properties. Its rhizome is long woody, irregularly curved
with branching. It is bitter in taste and is used for medicinal purpose. It
is one of the major income generating plant. Keeping in view of its
multiple medicinal uses, it was intended to adopt an overview on this
highly important medicinal plant.
