ABSTRACT
Some Schiff base ligands haveprepared by the reaction of 2-acetylfluorene and 4-acetylbiphenyl with amino acids (glycine, alanine, leucine, isoleucine, valine and tryptophan). These ligands were used to synthesize a series of new metal complexes of Sn (II) in 2:1 molar ratio using benzene as a reaction medium. The structure determination and characterization of these ligands and complexes were made on the basis of UV, IR, (1H, 13C and 119Sn) NMR spectroscopy as well as elemental analysis. The Schiff base ligand and their complexes have also been screened for biological activity against various pathogenic bacteria, fungi and insects. The result shows thatthe complexes are superior to the free ligands and their toxicity has increased by increasing concentration.
