ROLE OF KLEDA AS SAMPRAPTI GHATAK IN PATHOGENESIS OF VARIOUS DISEASES

ABSTRACT
“Sneha Saaro Ayam Purusha.” This is one among the most celebrated quotations in Ayurveda. The essence of human body is Sneha wherein Sneha is something which causes kledan due to its snigdha guna. Kleda is „snehansha‟ present in Dhatu and Mala. Kleda is the representative of Apya Bhava Padartha. It is the transitional part of Udaka which moisturizes, replenishes and nourishes dhatus. It is a body component with its physiological, pathological and therapeutic importance. Prakrut kleda is responsible for softening the solid elements in the body because of its drava, snigdha, picchila, mrudu gunas. According to Acharya Sushrut, Sweda is responsible for making Twak Sukaumaryatwa by doing dharan of Kleda. Prakrut kleda plays vital role in Anna Pachana with normal functioning of Dosha, Dhatu, Mala and Agni, ultimately maintaining normal physiological process in the body. Dosha Dushya Sammurchana, Agnimandya or disturbed Sara-Kitta Vibhajana produces Vikrut Kleda that can cause or become a vital entity in disease manifestation. This can be justified from certain Vyadhi Utpattis explained in Samhitas such as Kushtha, Prameha, Prameha Pidaka, Vrana etc. The work will highlight the role of Kleda as Samprapti Ghatak in Pathogenesis of various diseases.
