EFFECT OF RASNADI GUGGULU IN GREEVA SANDHIGATA VATA (CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS): A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Greeva sandhigata vata can be defined as a joint disease with symptoms of Shoola which aggravates by movement, Shotha with complete restricted movement at later stages. Vata particularly Vyanavayu has a close relationship with the movement of sandhi, so it’s aggravating factors can produce sandhigata vata. In modern medical sciences the condition is managed by use of analgesic, corticosteroid, surgical decompression, traction which provides temporary relief and has several side-effects besides being costly. Hence, it is an urgent need of time for a permanent, safe and cost-effective treatment devoid of side effects. As mentioned in Yogratnakar textbook, ayurvedic medicine Rasnadi guggulu have the property of vata dosha balance and it provide nourishment to the body tissues so we can use it in the management of Greeva sandhigata vata. Rasnadi guggulu have properties like Vata-kaphahara, Amapachaka and Agnideepaka, indicated in Shotha, Sandhishula and anti-spasmodic activity. This study was intended to find out the efficacy of Rasnadi guggulu in the management of Greeva sandhigata vata.
