MANAGEMENT OF VISARPA. (HERPES ZOSTER) – A SINGLE CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Background of study:- Among all skin disease, herpes zoster should get immediate treatment because of its severity in pain and burning sensation. Herpes zoster resembles to disease Visarpa which is described in Ayurveda. In present case, Shaman Chikitsa and Jalaukavacharan was done. The case presented here is of 75 yr old female who came with complaints of Rakt Varni Pidika, Daha, Shool, Sparsha Asahatwa since 2 days. Emergency treatment of Jalaukavacharan was done and Shaman Aushadhi like Kaamdudha Rasa and Shatadhaut Ghrita was given. Lesions of Visarpa were found crusted within 1 week of treatment. Aim- To access the management of Visarpa by using Shaman, Bahirparimarjan Chikitsa and Jalaukavacharan. Objectives- 1. To study causative factor of Visarpa. 2. To analyse the effects of Jalukavacharan, Shaman and Bahirpaimarjan Chikitsa. Methodology- A 75yr old female patient came to skin OPD, GAC-Nagpur having complaint of Rakt Varni Pidika, Daha, Shool, Sparsha Asahatwa since 2 days over back, left axilla and left breast region. According to Acharya Charak, above complaints are of Pittaj Visarpa Vyadhi. Here, Virudhha Ahara is one of the main cause of disease. We treated as Visarpa according to its basic principle of treatment such as Raktamokshan, Shaman and Bahirparimarjan. Result- Patient got 75% result in complaints within 7 days. And 100% result in 1 month. Conclusion- Visarpa can be successfully treated with Jalaukavacharan, Shaman and Bahirparimarjan Chikitsa.
