ABSTRACT
A series of novel 2-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole derivatives 6a-q were prepared and tested in vitro for their antimicrobial activity against three gram positive bacteria like Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus three gram negative bacteria like Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and four fungal strains like Aspergilus niger, Candida albicance, Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium solani. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of the synthesized compounds 6b, 6c, 6d, 6f, 6g, 6l and 6p show high antibacterial and antifungal activities at low concentrations (6.25-200 μg/mL), with respect to reference drug.
