ABSTRACT
Currently, there are both medicated and herbal toothpastes available in the market. We use many dental care products daily, infact after using, we immediately toss the containers and closures in the trash without realizing whether they could be recycled or left non-degradable. The present article reviews periodontal diseases along with the applications of chewable tablet toothpaste, which is efficient in minimizing plastic waste with toothpastes, eco-friendly, cost-effective, and improves overall dental health. The chewable toothpaste tablet is a modified tablet dosage form that contains binders to hold the excipients, artificial sweetener as a sweetening agent, cranberry extract to reduce micro-adhesion of bacteria, an abrasive agent to remove debris from a tooth and to impart a glossy look to the tooth, surfactant to reduce surface tension and improve foam in the oral cavity, and to increase the dissolution rate with saliva and so on. These tablets are taken into the oral cavity, crushed with the teeth, later forms a fine paste with saliva, and finally cleaned with the brush as the like done with toothpaste tubes.
