Nidhi Sharma*, Abhishek Kashyap and Rustam Ekbbal
ABSTRACT
Benzimidazole is an organic molecule with a heterocyclic aromatic ring. The two aromatic rings of benzene and imidazole can be fused together to form this bicyclic molecule. It crystallizes as a white solid with tabular forms. This review was based on the synthesis and biological potentials of benzimidazole derivatives. Generally, at room temperature, benzaldehyde, NH4Cl, and CHCl3 and a solution of 1,2-phenylenediamine is used for the synthesis of benzimidazole derivatives. while being agitated for five minutes. Different derivatives have been demonstrated the various biological properties including anticancer, anti-hypertensive, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-coagulant, anti-diabetic, anthelmintic, opioids and analgesic, anti-spasmodic, anxiolytic and anti-depressant.
Keywords: Benzimidazole, synthesis, biological properties, anthelmintic and anti-hypertensive.
