Abstract

LITERATURE REVIEW OF YASTHIMADHU (GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA L.) W.S.R. TO BRIHATTRAYI AND NIGHANTU

ABSTRACT

Yashtimadhu, an herbal drug which is also called by different names like Licorice, Mulethi, Madhuk etc. have always played an important role in curing many diseases like respiratory disorders, gastric disorders, wound healing and many others. Ayurvedic texts like Charak Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga sangrah have mentioned Yashtimadhu in treatment of various diseases. Many Nighantus have illustrated the guna- karmas and synonyms of Yashtimadhu. The part of the plant used is Moola. In this article uses of Yashtimadhu in brihattaryi, synonyms by Nighantus, historical review have been discussed.
