EFFICACY OF KASHMARYADI KWATHA AS VIRECHANA IN MANAGEMENT OF VATARAKTA (GOUTY ARTHRITIS)

ABSTRACT
Unhealthy lifestyle choices and modified eating patterns, the number of patients with metabolic disorders is increasing in the modern era. Gouty arthritis's prevalence and incidence have recently increased globally, from 0.58 to 2.86 per 1000 person-years for incidence and 1% to 6.8% for prevalence, respectively. Alcohol consumption, eating meat, seafood, and vegetables high in purines are the main causes of gouty arthritis. Common treatments for gouty arthritis include NSAIDs, colchicine, corticosteroids, and uricosuric agents, all of which have numerous side effects. In Ayurveda, Gouty arthritis shares
a great deal in common with Vatarakta in terms of its aetiology, pathology, and clinical characteristics. Rakta serves as the main Dushya in Vatarakta, a Vatapradhana Tridoshaja Vatavyadhi. Sandhi Shoola, Sandhi Graha, Sandhi Shotha, Vaivarnya, Sparsha Asahatva, Daha are common symptoms of Vatarakta. Panchakarma has a significant place in Ayurvedic treatment. Virechana Karma is one of the five Panchakarma processes. It is used to balance Pitta and Rakta Dosha, and its Virechaneeya effect eliminates Sanchita Mala, or serum uric acid in gouty arthritis. There are numerous drugs with Tridoshahar properties, Dahaprashamana, Medhya, Anulomana, Kaphaghna, Virechana, Jvaraghna properties in Kashmaryadi Kwatha.
