ABSTRACT
Ganoderma lucidium is a polypore edible medicinal mushroom known as “Lingzhi”. Ganoderma lucidium was popularly used as a chemotherapy agent in ancient china. It exhibits wide range of anti-cancer activity such as inhibit active transcription factors such as NF-kB and AP-I, which results in inhibition of urokinase type plasminogen activator and its receptor. Ganoderma lucidium grows in the northeastern hemlock forests. It has more than 400 bioactive chemical constituents which plays an important role in many therapeutic actions. Ganoderma lucidium has been very effective in various diseases and has properties such as anti-carcinogenic, anti-viral, anti-biotic, anti-microbial, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-fungal, asthma, skin diseases, enhance immune system, immunomodulatory, arthritis, liver disease etc.
