Abstract

PHARMACEUTICAL AND BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS OF HYDROGELS

Farva Farrukh*, Dr. Muhammad Zaman, Kashif Rehman, Muhammad Usama

ABSTRACT

Repetitive dosage and systemic toxicity are usually addressed by conventional drug therapeutic effects. Since a few decades ago, hydrogels used extensively drug delivery vehicle to reduce the limitations associated with traditional drug delivery. Due to their biocompatibility, they have been regarded as one of the most trustworthy categories of biomaterials. Physical and chemical characteristics, as well as planned interactions with the environment. Hydrogels are exceptional in the fields of tissue engineering, contact lens manufacturing, targeted medication administration and wound dressing due to their variety and adaptability. The unique ability of hydrogels to hold water inside their network is another factor that makes them smart carriers for medication delivery. Hydrogels made of natural, semi-natural and synthetic materials have recently. Cancer treatment management, stomach ulcers, the head tumors, bacterial infections, diabetes etc. can all be managed with medicinal substances delivered specifically has drawn a lot of attention to polymers. Additionally, due to their remarkable flexibility to be modified, hydrogels have shown promise as a drug delivery system for disorders related to the skin and cosmetology. The goal of this review is to draw attention to the fundamental idea behind hydrogels, their methods of manufacture, their productions use of stimuli-responsive polymers and their various applications as delivery systems. Various both finished and ongoing drug tests of drugs based on hydrogels also been talked about. Research as well as literature that back up widespread using hydrogels in a variety of industries and show how they properly altered in a variety of methods to achieve the desired distribution of pharmaceutically active compounds.

Keywords: Biomedical applications, biodegradable polymers, conjugated polymers, morphology, hydrogels properties.
