Qi Zhanpeng*, Kong Huanyu and Mohammad Gousuddin
ABSTRACT
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has become a global health concern, largely attributed to the obesity epidemic. This comprehensive review aims to explore the underlying mechanisms that mediate the association between obesity and the development of T2DM. Several pathways, including insulin resistance, adipose tissue dysfunction, altered lipid metabolism, and gut microbiota, contribute to the intricate interplay between obesity and T2DM. Understanding these complex mechanisms can provide insights into potential therapeutic targets for the prevention and management of obesity-related T2DM.
