ABSTRACT
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airways that is heterogeneous in nature and has a high incidence and mortality rate in several countries. Non-compliance with treatment can result in uncontrolled asthma, leading to clinical consequences such as impairment in daily activities, asthma exacerbations, and a decline in patients' quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the influence of education on the quality of life of asthma patients. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest concept. The study sample consisted of outpatient asthma patients at the Pulmonary Polyclinic of Dr. M. Djamil Hospital who received single or combination asthma therapy and were aged ≥18 years. The Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ(s)), which
has been standardized, was used to measure patients' quality of life. The research results showed that the average quality of life score of the respondents was 3.82±1.18 during the pretest and 3.90±1.13 during the posttest. Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney test indicated a significant difference in the quality of life of asthma patients after receiving education from pharmacists.
