A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL OF DORONICUM HOOKERI PLANT: A POTENTIAL UNANI DRUG

ABSTRACT
Medicinal plants with potential therapeutic activities are extensive resources of prospective promising chemical elements. In different medical conditions, mainly by the practitioners of traditional medicines, a number of plant drugs are used by the practitioners of traditional medicines. Medicinal herbs play a leading role in the development of potent therapeutic agents. Therapeutically important phytochemicals obtained from plant parts possess a broad range of potential therapeutic potential. For the time being rapid growth in the field of Unani Medicine, these drugs are traditionally used by the
people across the glove because of their natural source and its fewer side effects. Doronicum Hookeri commonly known as Darunaj Aqrabi is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to a family Asteraceae and has long been used in Unani system of medicines. It has been used in the treatment of various ailments and conditions like palpitation, scorpion bite, plague, nightmare, indigestion, pain abdomen, chest pain, headache, flatulence, cough, fatigue, paralysis, renal and bladder stone. It is pharmacologically used as liver, neuro and spleen tonic, exhilarant, stomachic, foetus-protective. The plant of Doronicum Hookeri is detailed in this paper. In the present review, we will try to explore the multifunctional uses of the plant and also, we will try to summarize the innovative research on this plant.
