ABSTRACT
Myroides spp, formerly classified as Flavobacteriun odoratum, are aerobic, yellow-pigmented, Gram-negative, non-fermentative rods. A 64-year-old female with multiple medical co-morbidities admitted to the intensive care unit. Urine culture sent, it was then identified to be myroides species by automated Vitek-2 compact system. This pathogen was resistant to all antibiotics tested including Meropenem and was found to be sensitive only to minocycline. Treated with minocycline patient discharged in stable condition. Myroides-related infections were discovered in patients with diabetes, bladder carcinoma, chronic renal impairment, chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD), liver disease, alcohol abuse, skin ulcer, and chronic steroid use. A well-implemented Antimicrobial stewardship with infection control practices is needed to limit the spread of new multi drug resistant pathogens.
