SULFASALAZINE INDUCED BICYTOPENIA: A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Sulfasalazine a well‐established disease‐modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) useful for any of the clinical manifestations ankylosing spondylitis. Although believed to have an effective and safe profile, it has side effects ranging from mild gastrointestinal discomfort to hematopoietic alterations. Here we report a case of bicytopenia induced by long term therapy with Sulfasalazine for ankylosing spondylosis where Hb drop was persistently seen in the patient with decreased total leucocyte count. There has been few various case reports on sulfasalazine induced bicytopenia.
