REVIEW ON LEPA KALPANA W.S.R TO DASHANGA LEPA

ABSTRACT

Human body can receive drugs in two ways i.e internally and externally. Various types of Kalpanas have been mentioned in our classics to treat a wide variety of diseases such as Swarasa, Kalka, Kwatha, Vati, Churana, Sneha, Asava- Arishta etc. Lepa kalpana is one of the Upkalpana mentioned in Ayurveda Classics to treat various skin disorders, wound healing, wound cleaning, poisoning and inflammatory conditions. It is even used to get healthy skin. It is a topical preparation which locally gives relief from symptoms. On application of Lepa there are less or no side effects seen. So, it is widely used without any hesitation. All Lepa prepartion is for instant use only but if herbal drug combine with mineral and mettalic drugs then drugs themselves do not have any expiry period. This shows that drug expiry depend on constituents of that formulation and base used for its prepartion. Dashang Lepa is one of the Kalpana which is mainly used for treatment of Visarpa, Visha Roga, Visphota, Shothanashak, Dushtvrana. It is widely used to treat disease because its ingredients are easily available and is also easy to prepare, increase bioavailability of drugs.
