CINNAMOMUM CAMPHORA (KARPURA): LITERATURE REVIEW OF A RESERVOIR PLANT FOR THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS

ABSTRACT
Camphor is whitish crystals or granules obtained from the leaves, chipped wood and roots of Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Nees & Ebern of family Lauraceae by steam distillation and hydro-distillation.[1] It is multifarious drug used traditionally in india as a medicine for controlling many human diseases, relief of pain, inflammation and so many diseases of skin. In Ayurveda, it is known as Karpura and used to treat bronchitis, fever, chest congestion, diarrhea and dysentery.
