ABSTRACT

The oral route of administration is the most practical method of drug administration, and fast-dissolving oral films have become an alternative dosage form for patients who have trouble swallowing traditional oral solid dosage forms like tablets, capsules, and syrups, etc. Due to its efficient dissolving, it offers a quicker onset of action by avoiding first pass metabolism, minimising stomach drug metabolism and degradation, and enhancing oral bioavailability. Additionally, having a local systemic impact is the main goal. Because they include water-soluble polymers when they are put in the mouth cavity or on the tongue, oral dissolving films are pharmaceutical delivery systems that swiftly release the medication by dissolving or sticking in the mucosa with saliva within a few seconds The current study offers the most recent techniques of formulation and evaluation of Oral dissolving films.
