ABSTRACT
New born babies totally depend on breastmilk for their physical and psychological development, if the breastmilk undergoes vitiation there are chances of transferring the same to the child leading causing of diseases. On intake of healthy breast milk, the child will have a good immunity as compared to child with formula feeding. The aim of this study is to evaluate the physiological and pathological status of Stanya (breast milk) based on Ayurveda principles and its physico-chemical properties. Objectives of the study is to establish assessment criteria to assess Stanya Dushti (vitiated breast milk) through basic sciences. To assess the Stanya by performing experimental study of its physico-chemical properties through color chart, dispersion in water, foaming
test, sugar estimation, viscosity, pH value, density and to study the character of Stanya, type of Stanya Dushti as given in Ayurveda classical text. Participants for the said study will be selected from the OPD & IPD of Kaumarbhritya of Mahatma Gandhi Ayurveda College Hospital & Research Centre, Ward and OPD & IPD of pediatrics and obstetrics of A.V.B.R.H, Sawangi. Breastmilk from Lactating mother who have started breastfeeding from 4th - 6th week of giving birth of both primi and multi gravida will be collected and clinical features and experimental result of physico-chemical properties of breastmilk will be evaluated as per Ayurveda clinical features and experimental test respectively at MGACH & RC. The collected data will be analyse by statistical test and presented in the form of tables, graph and diagrams.
