ABSTRACT
Serum samples from a total of 221 animals [cattle (n=195) and buffaloes(n=26)] with known history of vaccination were tested for the presence of antibodies against Brucella spp. by Competitive Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (C-ELISA). C-ELISA was performed using commercially available kit (Brucella antibody C-ELISA; SVANOVIR; Sweden) as per the manufacturer’s instructions. The samples were analyzed in relation to the conjugate control. Samples scoring less than 30% were assigned negative and greater than or equal to 30% as positive. Sera from strain 19 vaccinated cattle show negative reaction with C-ELISA thereby demonstrating the ability of the test to differentiate vaccinated animals from infected animals. Out of 221 animals tested, 94 animals were positive for Brucella antibodies.
