STUDY OF ANT DIVERSITY IN DEGLOOR REGION MAHARASHTRA, (M.S.), INDIA

ABSTRACT
Fire ant (SOLENOPSIS SPECIES) has high ecological value, It is commonly available all over India. The ants are the insect living in social organization. Ants are functionally important at many different tropic levels and play critical ecological role in soil turnover, nutrient cycling. A study tried to explore the distribution of ants in Cultivable lands and Industrial localities. The dominant genus were Lasius, Monomorium, Solenopsis, Camponotus The dominance in Industrial area and cultivated area indicated that the genera Camponotus spp is most widely adapted in Degloor region.
