REVIEW OF RASARNAVAM: A COMPREHENSIVE TREATISE OF INDIAN ALCHEMY

ABSTRACT
Rasarnavam is an alchemical treatise on Samvadathmaka (conversation) between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This document sheds light on the current state of Indian expertise in the field of alchemy as it relates to the extraction, purification and conversion of essences into therapeutic forms and the various instruments developed for alchemical purposes. This treatise is well known for its explanation of different colours of flame for different Dhatus, which is the first stage (Beejavarta) in Satvapatana. Kshetrikarana was first explained in this treatise. It has also explained Rasa Karma along with Pavana Karma. This study encapsulates the main features, overarching and specific points mentioned in this text, and explains Rasarnavam's benefaction in the field of Indian alchemy.
