FERONIA LIMONIA NOVEL PLANT: A REVIEW ON HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, MORPHOLOGY, PHYTOCHEMISTRY, PHARMACOLOGY AND TRADITIONAL USES

ABSTRACT
The present article was designed to review on history, geographical regions, morphological characters, phytochemical constituents, pharmacological activity and traditional uses of Feronia limonia as a novel plant. Feronia limonia commonly known as “wood apple” and belongs to the family Rutaceae, globally studied and has a lengthy history of therapeutic uses by the domestic and ethnic people. The chemical presents in the leaves of Feronia limonia which makes it as outstandingly useful plant. Now, it is regarded as anti-diarrheal anti-diabetic, wound healing, anticancer, anti oxidant, hepatoprotective,
biosorbent, diuretic, anti-bacterial, anti fungal, anti-spermetogenic activity, anti histaminic activity, anti-larvicidal activity. The present paper provides a detailed account of therapeutic uses of whole plant of Feronia limonia.
