ABSTRACT
Inflammation is a natural immunological process that occurs as a result of a physiological disturbance in the body. Inflammation is characterized by redness, heat, swelling, pain, and loss of function. This entire process is a defense mechanism developed by the body in the aftermath of an injury. However, this can sometimes be harmful to the health. When medications are required to reduce this condition, they are referred to as anti-inflammatory drugs. NSAIDs are the most commonly utilized medications. Aspirin, diclofenac, mefenamic acid, and other medications are examples. However, long-term usage of these medications is known to have negative effects. Many plants are
claimed to contain phytoconstituents with anti-inflammatory properties. Plants are thought to be a safer source of remedies or drugs because they are natural, easily available, and generate little to no adverse effects. The purpose of this review is to assess the current level of knowledge regarding medicinal plants and their anti-inflammatory potential. This review addresses how plants with anti-inflammatory properties can be employed in medicine.
