DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ABOUT TREATMENT OF POISONOUS BITES FOLLOWED BY LAKSHMIKUTTY AMMA

ABSTRACT

Siddha an ancient science which is flourished in south india.it has its own treatment modalities. Nanju Maruthuvam (Toxicology) is a branch of Siddha and it deals with study of poisons whether it may plant or animal based and its treatment methods. Apart from this there are many traditional medical practitioners are present who have profound knowledge in poisonous healing. Lakshmikutty Amma, a famous tribal poison healer in Kerala, Trivandrum (Dt) who recently shot to fame.She has been treating more than 40 patients per day. She also give medicine for Migraine, chronic Arthritis, Sinusitis, Fibroid of uterus. Unfortunately, because of lack of documentation this knowledge are on verge of extinction. Aim of this study is to document the Lakshmikutty amma's traditional medicine formulations for bites. This complied documentation work helps to make scientific evidence of traditional medicines.
