BAUHINIA VARIEGATE (KANCHANARA) AND ITS PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES

ABSTRACT

Medicinal plants are important part of traditional medication system. These plants are the primary source of the modern drug. One such drug is Bauhinia variegate commonly called kanchanara belonging to Caesalpiniacea family. It is one of the herb mentioned in all ancient Sanskrit scriptures, it is the best-known herb for mitigating glandular swelling. It is a medium sized deciduous tree, commonly found throughout India. It has astringent taste and cold in potency, which is having wide therapeutic uses and pharmacological activities.
