ABSTRACT
Proximate analysis of plants plays a crucial role in assessing their nutritional significance. Carbohydrate, fats, fiber and protein are the essential nutrients of life. For proximate analysis, the fine powder obtained from dried plant parts as shown earlier were used. The following quantitative parameters were carried out using standard methods and Mean of the triplicate analysis was calculated. The nutritive value was assessed based on estimation of percentage of moisture, total ash, total carbohydrates, total crude fiber, total protein and total lipids in the plant samples. The results are calculated by analyzing one sample and presented as mean ± SD. Stem powder showed moisture content to be 4.66 ± 0.03. Stem showed ash percent to be 5.22 ± 0.066 and 5.61 ± 0.38 respectively. Higher carbohydrate content (70.48 ± 1.54) was found in stem of A. reticulata. While in stem only 2.56 ± 0.21 percentage of crude fiber was found. Stem showed protein content to be 11.54 ± 0.24. Stem showed fat content to be 5.51 ± 0.031 respectively.
