ABSTRACT
Sunlight is regarded among greatest gifts that are presented in Richness to the human beings from the God. Sunlight is also rich sources of Vitamin D. the most important are cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) and ergocalciferol (vitamin D2). The principal source of vitamin D is synthesis following exposure of the skin to radiation, converting 7-dehydrocholesterol to the provitamin cholecalciferol. Then transported to the liver and kidneys for further processing. The traditional role of calcium homeostasis and bone mineralization, Calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D. While 1,25dihydroxycholecalciferol (calcitriol) may play a role in the genesis and progression of breast, lung, colorectal and prostate cancer. The active metabolite of vitamin D, also
displays other metabolic activities as antiproliferative, pro-differentiating, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antineoplastic effects. Thus, the use of nanotechnology may overcome these problems associated with vitamin D administration, allowing decreasing its toxicity in healthy tissues and increasing its bioavailability. As well as a review of Nano systems for the encapsulation of vitamin D for different applications, such as food and pharmaceutical industries.
Keywords: Ergocalciferol, Cholecalciferol, Calcitriol, Rickets, Nano emulsion-based delivery.
