ABSTRACT
The hand wash is an effective way to kill the micro-organisms and various bacteria. In the present study Polyherbal hand wash was prepared by using guava leaf extract. Pharmacognostical study of guava leaf was performed. Further aqueous extract of guava leaves was prepared by maceration technique. Phytochemical analysis of aqueous extract of guava leaves was performed for determining presence of various Phytoconstituents. Presence of tannins helps to indicates chances of antimicrobial property of guava leaf. The Agar diffusion
method was used to determine anti-microbial activity of aqueous guava leaf extract. Two bacterial cultures namely E-coli (gram negative bacteria) and staphylococcus aurous (gram positive bacteria) were used for determination of antimicrobial property of extract. Poly herbal hand wash was prepared by using guava leaf extract & lemon juice. Prepared hand wash was evaluated for various parameters such as colour, odour, pH, Spreading coefficient, foaming index, skin irritancy, stability etc. Prepared hand wash was compared with marketed hand wash for antimicrobial activity.
