Abstract

THE MANAGEMENT OF YONIVRANA BY KSHARAKARMA WITH YONIAVACHURNANA W.S.R. TO CERVICAL EROSION – A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Background: Yonivrana is benign condition which is commonly found in women of reproductive age group. It can be considered as a cervical erosion by its clinical presentation and Lakshanas (symptoms). Aim & Objective: The present case study was carried out to know the effect of Ksharakarma by Yavakshara and Yoniavachurnana by Kashaya Dravyas in the management of Yonivrana and also to review the disease as per Ayurvedic principals. Method: Ayurvedic Samhitas, commentaries, published articles, online and offline data source is used to explore the thoughts regarding the disease. In this case study, 46 years old married female patient was diagnosed by Yonivrana with clinical examinations and malignancy was excluded by PAP smear. She was treated in Ayurvedic Chikitsalaya (hospital) by Ksharakarma with Yavakshara followed by Yoniavachurnana with Kashaya Dravyas for three consecutive menstrual cycles. Result: Yonivrana was markedly recovered by Ksharakarma followed by Yoniavachurnana within three months. Marked symptomatic improvement was also noted during the treatment. Conclusion: Ayurvedic Sthanika Chikitsa (local procedures) i.e., Ksharakarma and Yoniavachurnana can be the batter management option for Yonivrana (cervical erosion) without any side effects.
