ABSTRACT
Siddha Medicine is a traditional system of medicine that has been practiced in Tamil Nadu, India for centuries. The system is based on a holistic approach to healthcare that emphasizes the balance of physical, mental, and spiritual elements in the body. One of the key features of Siddha Medicine is the use of herbs as a primary form of treatment. Herbs have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years and are an important part of traditional medicine systems. They offer a natural, safe, and effective way to treat a variety of health conditions, without the harmful side effects that can accompany pharmaceutical drugs. The paper focusses on disparate approaches for identifying the potential of polyherbal formulation, the interventional medicine PARUMA NOI NIVARANA MAATHIRAI in the management of BALAR ATHITHOOLA ROGAM (Childhood Obesity). Childhood obesity is a pressing public health concern that has reached epidemic proportions across the globe. It is characterized by excessive body fat accumulation in children and adolescents, leading to a wide range of physical, psychological, and social consequences. Over the past few decades, the prevalence of this condition has escalated at an alarming rate, posing significant challenges to families, educators, and healthcare providers. The multifaceted etiology of childhood obesity stems from a complex interplay of genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors, including poor dietary habits, sedentary lifestyles, and socio-economic disparities. This introduction aims to provide an overview of the magnitude and implications of this health crisis, emphasizing the urgent need for comprehensive, evidence-based interventions to prevent and manage childhood obesity, thereby safeguarding the well-being and future of our younger generations.
