BIOCHEMICAL SCREENING ANALYSIS OF MEDAATHI CHOORANAM FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF BALAR KEEL VAYU

ABSTRACT
Siddha is part of AYUSH system of Indian medicine widely practiced in southern part of India, especially Tamil nadu. Siddhars were considered as presiding god of siddha medicines. It has innumerous classical medicines for various diseases mentioned in their literatures. Preparation of the medicines, its indications, & its administrations are unique and effective. The medicines were prepared from herbal plants, minerals, metals and animal products. Purification of the medicinal raw materials (suthi) is also described. The polyherbal combination of any medicine is based on their properties of taste as well as potency. The medicine Medaathi Chooranam taken from siddha classical literature Kumbamuni Vatha Nithanam -800 for the treatment BALAR Keel Vayu (Juvenille Idiopathic Arthiritis) is prepared and
its biochemical properties are analysed with standard procedures of biochemical test to prove the effectiveness of the herbs used in the medicines for combined effect. This analysis helps to explore the new properties of medicine in their usage in clinical study. It is concluded the presence of certain biochemical justify the better use of the medicine Medaathi Chooranam for Balar Keel Vayu.
