Abstract

MANAGEMENT OF BANDHYATAVA (INFERTILITY) BY SAMSHODHAN AND SHAMSHAN CHIKTISA: A CASE REPORT

*Dr. Sheetal Verma, Vd. Anil Bhardwaj and Dr. Soni Kapil

ABSTRACT

Background of the Study: In humans, the infertility is a condition that prevents a woman from becoming pregnant after one year of unprotected intercourse with her partner. In the modern era, the most common cause of infertility is the deliberate delay in conception. Due to this, there is the decline in the quality of oocyte, especially after reaching 35 years of age. Infertility is absolute state of inability to conceive, whereas subfertility is a relative state of lowered capacity to conceive. Secondary infertility and subfertility are same states developing after an initial phase of fertility. From an Ayurvedic perspective, Sushruta Acharya listed four crucial elements: Ritu, Khsetra, Ambu, and Beeja, as well as the Garbha Sambhava Samagri required for conception. Infertility is largely a result of the Vata Dosha, according to Bandhyatva. Ayurvedic practitioners recommend a few treatments, including Panchakarma for vitiated Doshas in the female reproductive organs. Samshodhan therapy including Snehapana (oral ingestion of medicated oil) followed by Vaman and Virechan helps in formation of high-quality ovules. Ayurveda enhances the body's inherent self-healing and balancing processes.

Keywords: Sambhava Samagri, Bandhytava, Samshodhan, Vaman, Virechan.
