ABSTRACT
Four novel Salicylic acid fused 1,3,4-Oxadiazole derivatives (SAC1 to SAC4) were esterified by simple synthesis of Ethyl-2-hydroxy benzoate (II) through nucleophilic acyl substitution reaction of Salicylic acid. The compound (II) is dissolved in ethanol and add hydrazine hydrate, refluxed for 4hr to obtain 2-Hydroxybenzo hydrazide (III). The Equimolar concentrations of compound (III), substituted Carboxylic acids was treated with phosphorous oxy trichloride (POCl3) using Microwave irradiation for about 5 to 10 minutes yielded derivatives of 1,3,4-Oxadiazole derivatives (IV). The newly synthesized derivatives were characterized by using spectroscopical methods and screened for anti-Inflammatory activity and anti-oxidant activity. Results of the activities revealed that some of the derivatives showed excellent to good anti-Inflammatory activity and anti-oxidant activity.
