SYSTEMIC REVIEW ON UNDERSTANDING AND MANAGEMENT OF GARBHINI PANDU (IRON DEFICIENCY ANAEMIA)

ABSTRACT
Background:-Iron deficiency anaemia in pregnancy in an important women health problem in India. In Ayurveda texts, There is no direct reference of Garbhini Pandu or its management. There are only indirect refrences regarding to Garbhini pandu as such Garbhini vivranata, Garbhini balavarnahani, asita sati (pale women). According to Ayurvedic classics, this condition occurs due to improper rasa dhatu in mother and continuously increasing fetal demands and is considered as Rasa Pradoshajavikara. Various ayurvedic researches shows the evidence of efficacy of different ayurvedic formulations mentioned for Garbhini pandu such as dhatri lauha, punarnava mandoor, pandughani vati, draksha ghrita, Navayas lauha. Aim: The aim of the present study was to explore the understanding and
management of Garbhini pandu and to compile the outcome of various researches related to Garbhini pandu. Methods: various Ayurveda Samhitas, database such as PubMed, Scopus, DHARA, Google Scholar and releted research works were searched and reviewed for establishing and understanding to Garbhini Pandu with its management. Results and Conclusion: After going through various research works on the management of Garbhini Pandu, it has been observed that punarnava mandoor showed highly significant relief in subjective and objective parameters of Garbhini Pandu. The detailed observations of these studies are mentioned here.
