A REVIEW ON PHARMACOLOGICAL AND PHYTOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF KIRAMBU CHOORANAM - A CLASSICAL SIDDHA DRUG

ABSTRACT
Medicinal plants play an important role in traditional health care systems as well as in international herbal and pharmaceutical markets. Although herbal medicine has existed since the dawn of time, our knowledge about medicinal value of plants around us is very meagre. The medicinal value of these plants lies in some chemical substances that produce a definite physiological action in the human body. “Kirambu chooranam”, polyherbal preparation contains most of the spices like clove, coriandrum, elettaria, cumin etc., which we use in day to day life. This review is going on with a view to provide the scientific evidence for the pharmacological and phytochemical properties of a classical siddha drug “Kirambu chooranam”, polyherbal prepation and their clinical applications. The medicine was evaluated
in the basis of poteny, post absorptive changes, taste.
