BRONCHIAL ASTHMA IN CHILDREN & IT’S AYURVEDIC PROSPECTS

ABSTRACT
Bronchial asthma is a very chronic disease and in childhood age it hampers the physical and mental growth of child, in which the child immunity have decreases and it affects the sleep, child school attendance and play activity. Childhood asthma is not a different disease from the disease of adults, but children do face unique challenges. Asthma is a chronic disease of respiratory system, characterized by intermittent inflammation, constriction or obstruction of airways leading to a temporary reduction in airflow and associated shortness of breath. It leads to recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, tightness of chest and cough particularly at night or
early morning. Asthma in Ayurveda mentioned in pranvaha sroto vicar as shwasa is a common lung condition that causes regular breathing difficulties. It affects people of all ages and regularly Start in childhood. Shwasa is mainly caused by vata and kapha doshas both ayurveda and modern science agree regarding the nidana of the disease as host factors and environmental factors. It can be easily correlated with the allergic condition. Nidana parivarjan hence play a key role in the management strategy in both science. In allopathic medicines beta 2 adrenergic agonist and glucocorticosteriods and orally theophylline are used, they decreased the immunity and also gives side effects on the childhood activities. In ayurvedic medicine we use an inflammatory, bronchodilators herbal drugs and immunomodulatory drugs, they treat the disease and also enhance the immunity of the body.
