ABSTRACT
Dosage form is used for the delivery of drug to a living body. In order to get the maximum therapeutic action of the drug the desired amount of the drug should be delivered to its site of action at such rate. oral route is still widely preferrable but having a common drawback of difficulty in swallowing of tablets and capsules. In order to overcome this problem a lot of research has been done on novel drug delivery systems to increase the bioavailability of the drug. Oro dispersible tablets(ODT) are solid unit dosage forms which readily disintegrate in the mouth within a minute in the presence of saliva due to super disintegrants in the formulation. Thus this type of drug delivery is preferred for administration in pediatric, geriatric population and psychiatric patients with dysphagia where swallowing is a major of trouble. Now a days, ODT are getting more attention when compared to the conventional tablets and capsules because it has better patient compliances, better solubility, and stability. scientists have prepared orodispersible tablets by various methods. However, compression is the mostly preferred method. The notable advantages of this dosage forms are Quick absorption, rapid onset of action and reduction in drug loss properties.
