ABSTRACT
Introduction: Infertility is defined when a couple fail to conceive after regular unprotected coitus for one or more years. It may be due to fault in either male, female partner or both of them. Acharya explained four factors responsible for Garbha(zygote/embryo/fetus) i.e., Ritu (fertile period), Kshetra (reproductive organs), Ambu (proper nutrient fluid), Beeja (sperm and ovum). These are known as Garbha sambhava samagri.[1] These factors are important for conception. Lack of Garbha sambhava samagri leads to infertility. Infertility can be primary infertility i.e., patient who never conceived and can be secondary infertility that indicate previous pregnancy but fail to conceive afterwards. Now here is case of secondary infertility. In Ayurveda it can be corelated to Sapraja (it is a condition in which a woman in her
reproductive age does not conceive after giving birth to one or more children).[2] So, here in this case study secondary infertility is successfully treated with Ayurvedic management. Main clinical finding: A female patient of age 28 years came to National institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur OPD with complaint of unable to conceive since 2 years. She has history of irregular and early menses. Diagnosis: her USG report reveal a mix echogenic area of size 3.77 x 3.16cm on anterior wall of uterus? Fibroid uterus. Another USG scan suggestive of mild hepatomegaly with grade 1 fatty infiltration and fatty pancreas. Her blood sugar level was also raised. Interventions: Nidana Parivarjana was done along with Pathya – apathyaaahar (dietary management) and Vihar (lifestyle management), Beejasamskara, along with oral medications. Outcome: she conceived after taking treatment. Conclusion: In this case study the importance of Nidan Parivarjana, Pathya apathya palan, Beejasamskara and ayurvedic medicines in management of infertility.
